Ofuku

I was strolling through Kyoto on the way to Kiyomizu when, passing the Minamiza Theater, I saw all of the Maiko and Geiko of Gion Kobu were on their way to see Kabuki. So, I dropped the plan to go to Kiyomizu and snapped pics of Maiko and Geiko in the rain.

This is a back shot of Mamechiho, showing the Ofuku coiffure. After a maiko becomes a senior maiko, she wears the Ofuku coiffure on a regular basis, and is allowed to wear special coiffures during certain events.
