Revisited: Oasis by Fuyou-hime Revisited: Oasis by Fuyou-hime
I was looking through my pictures from my stay in Japan, and I thought I should post some of the images I never used.

This is a photograph of the maiko Marie (ma-ree-eh) during her misedashi, her debut as a maiko. The pathway she is taking is the famous entryway to the Masuume teahouse [link] . In my opinion, it is the most beautiful and unique entryway out of all of Kyoto's teahouses, and in the bright summer light it became a little oasis of green admist the latticework of the surrounding teahouses.

Marie has unfortunately quit the profession, but this must have still been a very magical experience for her.

Ah, what a lovely setting - it really takes you back!

And that's a shame she decided to quit after so short a time. :(
I really like her name though!

Yes, it's a very nostalgic setting :). I really liked her name as well, it was quite unique.

Did Marie-san do her five years as a maiko then drop? D:

No, unfortunately she quit fairly early, within the first two years. It's a shame, I really liked her.
