Shiroi Sanbonashi Sakura ni

In Miyagawacho today, there were two misedashi, or debut of a new maiko. There was Fukusuzu and Toshichika. This is Toshichika. During misedashi, a maiko will present herself to the okiya (geisha houses), ochaya (tea houses), and local stores to thank everyone for their support.

I don't care if the flowers are fake, I love this shot. For the title, I changed one of the lines from 'Gion Kouta'- 'Shiroi eriashi bonbori ni' which means 'the white painted neck under the red lantern' to 'the white painted neck under the sakura'. There's a difference between the normal painted neck, eriashi, which is just two stripes of unpainted skin, to sanbonashi, which is three. The sanbonashi is used only on special occasions.
