Makiko had her Erikae, or debut as a Geiko. She dressed in her most formal attire and presented herself to the okiya (geisha house), ochaya (tea house), and local shops to thank everyone for supporting her.
Susohiki is the style of wearing a kimono trailing, once the common way for women to wear their kimono but now only done by geiko. While all women's kimono are longer then the length of their body, modern kimono are designed to be folded over at the hip. Kimono worn by geiko are not, so they are even longer and have a padded hem so as to drape more attractively. Another word for susohiki is hikizuri.
