The Golden Pavillion

I visited a lot of shrines and temples during my stay in Japan, but I never got around to loading the pictures for them, so I'm getting to it now.

This is when I visited Kinkakuji, or The Golden Pavillion, last April. It was a blindingly bright day, and I figured tha's the best time to visit a giant building covered in gold. While Kinkakuji is beautiful, I think it's too showy and especially so for proper tea ceremony (which is sometimes performed there). But this was made before Sen no Rikyu and wabisabi tea, so it's understandable. There's a much humbler tea hut up the hill overlooking the pavillion and city.
